Summer 2019 Salesforce Updates

Summer is officially here, and you know what that means: watermelon, 9 p.m. sunsets, and a new Salesforce release!  The new features will not be available in your Salesforce org until mid-June, but while you wait, here is a glimpse into the new functionalities:

SEND SURVEYS FOR FREE!

You might not know about the Salesforce Surveys feature that was released about a year ago because it was a paid feature.

The Summer ’19 release freed Salesforce Surveys - literally - and you can now customize and send surveys to your customers and users free of charge!

When responses are submitted, corresponding Salesforce records are updated with the submissions all in one swift step.

However, this feature comes with one “free” caveat: after the limit of free responses, there is a charge for each response thereafter.

ENHANCE VIEW FOR RELATED LISTS

While a user is viewing a record - say, an Account, it is very beneficial to be able to see Opportunities, Contacts, and Cases related to the Account.

The “old” version of Salesforce only allowed up to 4 columns in each related list, making screen space (and field choice) a premium and limiting the amount of information available to the user at one time.

Summer ’19 makes the related list function even more powerful by allowing up to 10 columns in the related list view so users have more information at their fingertips (users could only view 3 at a time before the update).

The enhanced view also allows users to wrap text and resize columns by dragging the columns to be bigger or smaller. The enhanced related list feature will need to be turned on by your admin for each object.

MENU NAVIGATION BAR

Are we the only ones who feel like we are looking at a computer screen all day?

Anything that makes the screen easier on our eyes is appreciated, and this small but mighty change does the trick in Salesforce.

Menu items shown at the top of your org have gotten a little more organized and easier to view!

When clicking the drop-down arrow next to each object, users will now see five items instead of the previous three, and styling enhancements such as bold section names and separators make it easier to tell sections apart.

ACCESS SALESFORCE DESKTOP FROM SAFARI ON YOUR IPAD

Salesforce use is not limited to a desktop or laptop.  When your users are on-the-go, they can access a modified version of Salesforce from the Mobile App, and now the full desktop site from iPad browsers!

The setting will have to be enabled in your org before users can browse on an iPad, but we’ve got you covered if you want to make that feature possible!

Beyond these three features are many more to be explored for the Summer ’19 release!

While some features will need to be enabled or be customized according to your org’s needs, some will be available immediately with the release.

Talk to your administrator about your org’s needs and for further customization to your org!
